A Matter of Perspective

~~~
 A recent question from a reader asks…
 “Jesus hung out with some pretty rough characters….
did he change them or did they change him?”
~~~

The answer to this question depends on where you are standing.

If you see Jesus as a man only, then, in your eyes, he would be subject to be changed by the influence of those he hangs out with. If you see and accept Jesus as God in the flesh, then you must recognize that man does not change God, rather God changes man. Often, today, we look and do not see that the change to be must take place in you and me. God remains the same, yesterday, today and forever.

Philip said to Him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is sufficient for us.” Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father…” (John 14: 8-9 NKJV)

  1. One of the hallmarks of the Christian is an on going transformation into Christ-likeness. This is a life long process, and to see and know that those changes have and are taking place is an affirmation that you do indeed belong to Christ.

  4. I have often found, however, that others are quick to see where the changes need to be made in someone else!

  5. Jesus transformed those “rough characters”. And He instructed us to likewise “feed my sheep.”

  6. Loved this … he did hang out with a raggedy bunch; wonder what a few “Holy Rollers” I know would think or say if they saw Him today?

  7. Beautiful – God changes Man

  8. We cannot change God, often times people assume He has changed in His promises but it it us who changes to doing His will that becomes in alignment with His promises. I would not want God to change because who would correct us and guide us? Or give us eternal life?

  9. I like since I am a rough character and hang out with rough characters!

Thank you for your thoughts.
