This morning I consider what to say…what can make a difference for someone? What words do they need to hear? What measure of comfort can be provided in a few words? For someone, the right words could make a difference…for Wesley, they might have made the difference between life and death.
This morning, I say to all of us…measure our thoughts…our words…for they are more powerful than we can possibly imagine.

Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.(Ephesians 4:29 NIV)

More than a message – a mission!!!
Several months before my 10 year old son, Jesse, died of cancer, we briefly had him home from the hospital. He had already endured 5 months of chemo. He was sitting on the couch when he spoke these words, “Dad, I think I maybe know why God let me get cancer. So we could learn to love each other more.” I still get chills when I think of those words. I don’t think that he could have ever known how powerful those few words would be in his dad’s life.
Reblogged this on Beyond the Blue Fog-Bank – Daniel O Casey and commented:
just some good thoughts for a dreary morning north of the 49th.
Amen. Thank you, Butch.
How do we ever know?
Occasionally, “wholesome” talk that builds up the listeners in general actually prods that single exception into defensive anger at being faced with such wholesomeness. I am praying for just such a one as I write this comment. Thank you, dear Butch, for such quietly helpful posts!
Our words are so easily misconstrued. We must choose them wisely.
Amen and Amen – something I have to work on – not only daily – but minute to minute
Thanks for the great reminder
God Bless
