Reflection

Yesterday, I wrote a short piece about remembering a friend and the days of our youth. Sometimes, I will write only a couple of sentences…sometimes, three or four short paragraphs. Whatever I write is intended to cause the reader to think.

When you read, let it be your writing, your thoughts. Let the words bring you to a specific thought or memory in your life. Let it be about you.

Whether it is on the past or the present moment, reflection is a very vital part of our being. The ability to pause, to consider, to think…to learn from the past, from our mistakes, to consider our best intentions at the time…these are the keys to growth.

  1. One never knows what word(s) will trigger a memory stored deep within the brain.

  2. Learning from my mistakes and being encouraged and cheered on to keep with my writing and life goals–much of this I owe to such great blogging friends such as yourself, Butch. Thank you!

  3. Your messages always make me think. Thank you!

  4. So true, Butch. Your posts are some of the best I read. I always leave your blog with something to carry with me throughout the day.

  5. Very powerful message but so very true, thanks for sharing my brother! Your messages always inspire me! On reflecting i will share something with you and you can share it, it is a poem about reflection called changes! I hope it will inspire someone, somewhere along with your post which moved my heart!

    “Changes”

With the coming of the setting sun,
when it seems that my day is done.
There is always a continuation of time,
where I weigh my days final outcome.

It’s a time to reflect on the days events,
on all the things that made it so complete.
For only in reviewing my many steps,
might I find peace in a tranquil sleep.

I view the kaleidoscope of images,
both good and bad, also in-between,
for only then might I grow the wiser,
so a much better life I may achieve.

And after critiquing this day’s events,
I kneel down by my bed and fervently pray,
that God above might help me to correct,
my many mistakes that were made today.
