Summer days, a little boy and a dog linger on the back roads of my mind. The time was called “forever” and everything was perfect.
The creek seemed as large as any proud river and it belonged to us, my dog and me. We explored its shores as far as we could see. The creek became a part of us.
Pal and I lived to be together and to experience each day as it came. We couldn’t wait to get out and going each morning as early as we could.
Summer days pass all too soon, as do boys and dogs in time, but the memories last a lifetime.

This evokes a lazy summer day, leaning up against a tree, day-dreaming. Beautiful.
Do you know, I’ve never owned a dog? or cat! I’m allergic to both but your writing makes me imagine all the fun and comfort such an animal can bring (and the joy).
Blessings to you and yours, Rebecca
My daddy used to tell me bedtime stories about him, his 2 brothers and sister and their dog, ‘Ol Bill. Took me a long time to realize these stories were fiction based on fact. I wish now I had written them down and had them published.
Butch, I love this. Are you sharing these on facebook? You should. If not, would you mind if I shared it on my wall? You’re too good a writer not to be read by as many people as possible. Wayne
Butch; you took me back to my childhood days and good memories of me and my dog named butch an Irish setter. Blessings.. Bro pat.
Every memory is like a forever hug.
Blessings – Maxi
