Take Time to Rest

We live in a hurried world with “instant” as a goal for almost everything. Time / place is “daytimer” managed; the treadmill of daily life ever spins.

Believe it or not, even though it doesn’t appear so, you are still in control of your daily schedule, etc. If you’re moving faster than you care to…do something about it.

Your life is too brief and too easy to miss. Take time to rest…put that in your “daytimer.” Make it a regular place to go, often. Take time to rest.

Read Psalm 23 this weekend…let the words soothe you.

  1. Been meditating on Psalm 23 quite a bit lately…

  2. I honestly believe that God allowed me to be hobbled essentially so that I would be forced into spending a lot more time with my young daughter. She needs me now more than ever, at thirteen. Because of the serious injury I suffered to my leg, I’ve had no choice but to slow down and really be here for her. We’ve suffered a bit financially, but God is providing; we’ve yet to go hungry. I love this post, Butch. Thanks!

  3. Your post brought tears to my eyes. If I would have done this several years ago I probably wouldn’t have slipped into a terrible depression last year. I’m feeling pretty much back to normal again but the past 12 months have been miserable. I had to relinguish all responsibilities outisde of my family circle and return to the “green pastures and still waters” in order to heal. Your advice is right on and may save someone else from crashing, as I did. I pray so.

  4. Thank you Butch – I needed to to read this.

  5. SO agree! I’ve started shutting down my lap top at four on a Friday (45 minutes to go!) and focusing on family and friends…..thanks for reminder!

  6. Good advice, LeRoy. I should pay attention…

  7. I like your posts!

Unless we slow down, we may not recognize the things that are really important. I was speeding right along when my son’s cancer stopped me in my tracks. I had 8 months to learn to love my son in ways I never had in the first 9 years of his life before the Lord took him home. I was always too busy before.

Great reminder, Butch! Sometimes I look at people racing around and have to wonder where they all think they’re going! :) Enjoy a wonderful God-blessed weekend!

Thank you for your thoughts.
