To think for a moment that we can do what Jesus would do is the ultimate in ego. To ask ourselves “What would Jesus do” is something to think about, but not something we can do. On our best day, we are not “Jesus”, we are only sinners saved by Grace; no more than we could save ourselves, can we do what Jesus did.
To think for a moment that we can live the Christian life would be a big mistake. The old self is right there to take over when we least expect it.
“…let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.”
(1Corinthians 10:12 NKJV)
It is a matter of pride to think we can live the Christian life.
If it were possible…
then it would have been possible for us to save ourselves.
Only Jesus can save…only Jesus can live the Christian life.
As sinners saved by Grace, we must choose to die to self daily…
and allow Christ to live through us. “I live, yet, not I, but Christ in me.”
I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live ; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. (Galatians 2:20)

Yes,Butch, it is not we ourselves who live out any Christian principles and/or deeds, but Christ in us (by the power of the Holy Spirit). Excellent short exegesis on this crucial spiritual reality, dear Butch!
This is so true Butch! I do think ‘What would Jesus do’ and try to live that way, I am a Christian, but I’m human. I’m not perfect like Jesus, nor do I think I ever will be.

From a good pastor friend – LeRoy Dean
Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now being made perfect by the flesh? (Gal 3:3). Thank you Pastor LeRoy.
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens and lives in me.” Philippians 4:13. and “Truly, I tell all of you with certainty, the one who believes in me will also do what I am doing. He will do even greater things than these, …” John 14:12 also come to mind as I read this word for today. Bless you, Butch! (p.s. thanks for visiting me on FaceBook…I’ve had to disable it for awhile as a techie pointed out I was being inundated with junk email via FB!!!).
Amen, Butch! Amen!
