They talk and quote scripture,
They speak of their faith,
And I’m left to wonder,
Am I saved by grace?
I try every day
The best that I can,
I fall and ask Jesus
To lift me up again.
A Christian I am
I believe in my heart,
But when I listen to them
I feel worlds apart.
How can they walk
So perfectly true?
Each day of their life
I wish I could, too.
But fail every day
Is all that I do.
What’s wrong with me?
I want heaven, too.
Lord if you hear
Have mercy I plea,
Help me to do
What’s right by Thee.

We all like sheep have gone astray – help us Lord to see and follow Your way.
Makes perfect sense to me….
very creative, efficient and articulate way of expressing the struggle to do God’s Will
Grace! ~ Sheila
I keep visualizing a masquerade ball, no one revealing what is beneath their beautiful veneer. God knows the truth hidden by the façade, and so does the one holding the mask.
Keep the Faith!
I know exactly what you’re talking about. People’s interpretations of the Scriptures vary so, and what one believes to be the way to make them practical to their lives can be miles apart from the next person. I keep coming back to the fact that if we ask God for wisdom He promises to give it to us. That also helps to accept others’ points-of-view without confusing their teachings as Scripture. As always, I look forward to your blog every day and am never disappointed. Thanks for the lift.
Amen! Help me to walk what’s right by Thee
We all stumble, fall and get back up in God’s Awesome Grace
We are blessed by His Forgiveness and given another gift for our soul
God Bless
“I am made perfect in weakness…” Beautiful and touching poem!
I so relate to this, thank you for sharing it.
Love and hugs friend. xxx
Truth be told, none of “them” walk “so perfectly true.” All of us fail, perhaps some more frequently than others. I’ve struggled with the sentiment of this poem, myself.
