The Heart Believes by Faith

If God is on your side, nothing can harm you. There is no need to fret and worry if your concerns are in the care of the Master. Nothing can harm you…there is no need to worry.”

Many Christians would say, “Easier said than done.” And I would say, “You are so right.” We know by now that it is a matter of faith to please God, to believe God, to receive His promises. Yet, we try over and over again…and we fail.

What’s the secret? Faith! Sounds like a “catch 22”, but it isn’t really. It’s a matter of the heart. Don’t you see, when we seem to fail it is with the mind that we have tried to exercise faith. The mind has eyes, the heart doesn’t. The mind is subject to the wiles of the Satan, the accuser and deceiver, he speaks…we believe…we lose out.

Faith is a matter of the heart, not the mind. The heart doesn’t require sight. The heart does not lend an ear to Satan’s wiles. The heart believes by faith.

I encourage you to read and reread the 11th chapter of Hebrews. Remember, they were ahead of the promises that are now written for us.

Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.

(Hebrews 12:1-3)

  1. …for the joy set before him, he endured the cross…
We don’t often look past present circumstances to His future goodness for our life on this earth. Good words Butch!

  2. Agreed. Good reading in Hebrews.

  4. Beautiful thoughts, and so true! I can do much more when I lead by heart rather than mind. Some days I’m more successful than other! Upward and onward! ~ Sheila

  5. The battle cry of the Reformation was “The just shall live by faith.” It is just as potent and true today as when Habakkuk, Paul, and James wrote it. Less of our self-efforts and more trusting in Him by His gracious gift of faith.

Thank you for your thoughts.
