God’s Heart was Broken

cropped-img_07871.jpg

The LORD was grieved that he had made man on the earth, and his heart was filled with pain. (Genesis 6:6 NIV)

A part of scripture often overlooked as the story of Noah and the ark unfolds. There are many lessons to be learned in these passages, but I wonder if we ever focus on…

“…and his heart was filled with pain.”

  Selah!

  2. Amen… but Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord (v.8). Even when the depravity of men is escalated beyond measure, to such a degree that brings grieving pain to an Almighty God, He preserves a path of grace and mercy… a path that delivers us to the life-giving cross of Christ.

  3. Lately I have been thinking God is thinking the same thing.

  4. I do not remember this verse…means looking up the verse in the Bible my Mom and Dad gave me eons ago.
Thank you for reminding us that God was sorry he placed us on this beautiful earth. He has a right to be sorry these days.

Yes, dear brother, I believe God’s heart was filled with pain then and NOW. We, his creation, have turned our backs on him and basically said, “we don’t need you.” As a parent if my child said or acted that way toward me I would be hurt beyond words. I pray that one day we will wake up and realize God really doesn’t need us but gave us life anyway to love us and have a relationship with him. Hopefully we’ll get our act together and return to him and call him Abba Father! Amen and amen.

  6. Many of us don’t. We only focus on our pain. Thank you my dear brother. Great truth posted.

  7. Amen. I always think about something similar to what you are saying…God made man in His image. I believe His image involves the emotions too….anger, love, hurt/pain, joy, compassion, etc. Except for one thing…whatever we feel, I believe God feels much more..and so much more that our meager human minds could not even begin to comprehend it. God bless you, and very thought-provoking post. Thanks!
