Freedom is a Struggle

Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” (John 8:32 NIV)

When someone is born again, he or she is excited for the moment as a babe in Christ. For a while, this zeal carries them to places they have never been.

Then, as they begin to grow in this new creation, they start to find out that they are not so ready for the Truth that varies from what they believe. They have a Savior, but letting go of themselves and accepting the Truth as Lord of their lives becomes a daily struggle as the old self and the new self war daily with each other.

  1. I love this verse. It took me a long while to understand that this verse is true in every area of life. I used to confine it to matters of faith, but really, anything in life that is distressing is more manageable if you know where you stand. You can always sort out your options, or deal with no options, once you know the truth of a situation. ~ Sheila
