Leave the Past Behind

The past is what it is…and that is exactly what it is…the past. It should not be in front of you to block your path, nor should it be an anchor to keep you in one place.

Learn from the past if need be, remember the past as you choose, but do not let it overshadow the present and affect your future. Take from the past, only those thoughts that will help build your tomorrows, then leave the past behind.

Strong statements…true words…simple direction…problems solved…or not.

For so many and those that don’t care to admit it, leaving the past behind is much easier said than done. The past, at times, can be impossible to deal with…let alone overcome. Each one’s past is unique; each battle to overcome is personal.

Good thoughts, and thanks for stopping by my blog.

  3. Very well said. I focus on the good hidden amongst the bad and use it to make a difference not just in my life but in the lives of others should they share their struggle with me.

  4. You’ve hit the nail on the head here. My husband seems more prone to living in the (negative) past than I do, but still, it’s easy to slip back there and become angry (him) or sad (me). Ultimately, I know there are issues that are not going to be solved this side of heaven. We simply must go on, making the most of the time God gives us. After all, He’s given us so much! Better to reflect that grace and generosity towards others. Ahhh… each new day is just that, a NEW day, not an old day. How can we help make TODAY be the best day?
