Hometowns, High Schools and Memories

Two things in life that will always be a focal point are hometowns and high schools. The older we get the more we tend to focus on both. We look back and remember.

In the growing years, we make decisions that will be with us for the rest of our lives. Some of the choices are good: some, a source of regret. It does not seem like it in the days of our youth, but life passes quickly. One day, the face in the mirror is young; turn around, there are wrinkles, and the hair has turned white.

If you moved away, a visit to your hometown is always a good opportunity to view changes since your “growing up” days. It is a time to remember and to visit your friends and family. High school reunions bring us back to the times of our youth and the classmates who shared it with us.

For each one of us, the memories of family, friends and classmates will stay with us throughout our life. For each of us, there will always be a hometown and a high school from the days of our youth.

Wonderful memories of a small hometown in rural Iowa. Mom and Dad married 60 years. Family and friends close by. Thanks, Butch for reminding me.

  2. I remember how I couldn’t wait to get out of high school. Time seemed to pass so slowly. Now, I came seem to slow it down at all. Each year goes by faster than the one before. A new season of life gets here faster than we realize. The trick is learning to be content in each one, wrinkles and all! 😉

  3. I was just talking to my husband about this the other day. We are both about to turn 30…and although I know that is still very young….it crept up on us both. Life is so beautiful and precious…thanks for reminding us of that. Many blessings to you!:)
