Like a Small Child

We see a place where we shouldn’t park…we park anyway. After all, there is something we must do and this spot is convenient. Surely no one will care. I’ll only be a minute, anyway. “I…Me” decides the rules don’t apply and rationalizes that no one will care.

We all try to abide by the rules and thoughtfulness I hope, but every once in a while there are those small moments when we close our eyes like a small child would and make the rules disappear. We even reason why it’s okay.
There are countless examples of moments when we choose to bend the rules, take a short cut or ignore them all together. We rationalize, justify, and exonerate ourselves.

Moments have a way of becoming habits and habits become second nature. Then, sometime, somewhere, somehow…someone dies. Then, we close our eyes like a small child…

  1. True. Very true. The rules don’t apply to me seems to be our mantra at times. Good reminder today.

Thank you for your thoughts.
