The old man sat by the window, as he did every day, watching the world go by. He saw children on their way to school or play and wondered of his own. There were several, but all rejected him years ago, save for two.
His eyes would glass over as he thought about earlier days when he watched them play and he tried to imagine what all those lost years since might have been like. Now, it was too late…life had went on without them.
His wrinkled hands trembled as he brushed the tears of those lost years from his cheeks. He hoped their lives were good and they were happy. He turned his thoughts to the two that had stayed with him through each passing year. A thankful smile appeared as he closed his eyes to pray.
