Growing Old Is Inevitable

When we are young, we cannot wait to get older…

When we are older, we wish we were young again.

It is inevitable that we will grow old, yet thousands of dollars are spent to keep the look of youth. These temporary fixes fail eventually and the aging process goes on despite futile efforts.

Growing old is not about the outward appearance…

But rather, the inward condition.

“…For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance… the Lord looks at the heart.” (1 Samuel 16:7)

The outward body is destined to perish…

The inward soul will live forever…

The question is where?

“For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? (Matthew 16:26)

  1. One of my favorite quotes. As the body begins its slow decline and we are not able to do some of the things we used to be able to do, our interior age and wisdom can be our consolation. I don’t always think about it that way. Thanks for reminding me.
