In grade school, there was a time when we all learned to add, subtract, multiply and divide. Not sure how different these skills are taught today, but back in the day it was a simple process, though it didn’t seem that way at the time. We had no calculators, so we learned to use our brain.
Today’s world is so much different from those growing up days in the 40’s and 50’s. Sometimes, with all the gadgets, I wonder if brains are still being challenged. Hope so. Anyway, that is not where I’m going with this.
In learning basic math, there was what was referred to as a denominator, referring to a number that divides. The word comes to mind when I hear the word, denomination. I realize, by definition that the two words, denominator and denomination, have very different meanings.
Yet, when I read a vast list of all the church denominations that exist today, some biblical…some not so biblical, I can’t help but wonder sometimes if denominator and denomination just might be first cousins.
May we all keep wondering for it keeps our brains thinking. One thing I don’t have to wonder about…the hazelnut coffee tastes good this morning.
