Somewhere in the states:
( her thoughts )
I’m missing today
your heart next to mine,
sharing this moment
with you by my side.
Somewhere on a dusty battlefield:
( his thoughts )
I wanted to stay,
the choice was not mine,
this very moment
miss you by my side.
I’m missing your touch
the closeness you gave,
the feeling of safe
with you by my side.
I long for your touch
the nearness of you,
I pray your okay
miss you by my side.
I’m missing your smile
gentle and kind,
the warmth that it gave
with you by my side.
I remember your smile
warm and sincere,
long for it now
miss you by my side.
I’m missing your voice
soft in my ear,
sweet nothings whispered
with you by my side.
I remember your voice
it comforts my mind,
saying I love you
miss you by my side.
I’m missing the us
that we used to be,
it’s so lonely now
miss you by my side.
I’m thinking of us
and wish I could be,
walking again
with you by my side.
Two hearts…two thoughts…one moment in time
She was at home when the news came…he died in battle for his country.

I really like this: it speaks to the ageless power of love.

I absolutely adore this poem. It epitomises everything I had hoped my marriage would be… Beautiful! It would make a lovely romantic song…
