Pearl Harbor
by Charles Duffy
Center trade winds whisper through the palms.
Hibiscus and Bougainvillea mingle with the salty breeze.
Crisp white uniforms, silent grey ships;
Sweet Leilani, so lovely, so sad.
The Ford Island Ferry chugs slowly across the harbor.
An orchid lei rides the wake.
An unseen hand touches my shoulder.
As the boson’s pipe beckons,
Sail Away…Sail Away

I have been to the memorial site in Hawaii. Every American should go. It will likely change many people’s way of looking at things. http://tonyguthrieshares.blogspot.com/

My mother’s cousin was on the Arizona when it sunk. Entombed!
