It’s a Matter of Faith

Human nature is curious about the unknown. Place a “blank” in a sentence and we want to fill it in. Rather than function with what we do know, we tend to focus on what we do not know. We believe it when we see it.

For example, we know that “without faith, it is impossible to please God” (Hebrews 11:6) and that “faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.” (Romans 10:17)  So, by faith we please God and even our very faith comes from God.

Oh, but here is the rub…“Faith is the substance of things hope for, the evidence of things not seen.” (Hebrews 11:1) That is what gets us every time, the “not seen” part; the “not knowing”…that “blank” in the sentence. We want to know and we spend way too much time trying to dig holes in water to find out. Impossible!

Why not just go with what we know and leave the rest (what we don’t know) to God. He is the Father and we are the children. A father is pleased when his children trust him. We know that our Father is pleased with our faith, as we leave the unknown to Him. Let’s place our hand in His and trust Him. It’s a matter of faith.
