Many believe that we live, we die and that death is the end of it. The mindset is to enjoy life as much as possible. Accumulate wealth, position and possessions to mark a successful life. Eat, drink and live, for someday we die.
The Soul Never Dies.
It has been accepted, and it has been denied. In any case, the reality of the eternal existence of the soul remains unchanged. Denial changes nothing. Disbelief does not alter the truth that the soul never dies.
You ask me, “How do I know?” My response would be, “How do you not know?” The knowledge is in our very soul, the inner realization that there is an existence greater than ourselves and by our very nature of wanting to live forever. It is the God-given witness within.
There is a Second Death.
The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.
Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.
A second death (spiritual) where the soul will be consciously tormented day and night forever. Torment without end…beyond anything you can imagine.
Hope Beyond the Grave.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)
Unless you created yourself, it is foolish to deny the eternal existence of your soul. Once physical death comes, it is too late. The choice is like a living will…by your acceptance or denial of Jesus Christ, you choose eternal life or eternal death (the second death) where the soul is conscious and tormented forever and ever.
The one choice in life that is yours alone to make; the fate of your eternal soul.
The final earthly say is yours.

It is written that only the Father above has immortality and Christ once said, “Fear not those who can kill the body but Him who can kill the soul in hell.

You are exactly right. It’s unfortunate but I know church-going Christians who don’t believe these truths. Well put, and thank you for sharing.

Wonderful essay and right-on-target scriptural quotes, Leroy. I really liked the part where you say, “unless you created yourself”–go get ‘im, big boy! I would just draw your attention to some of the new data resulting from experiments with neons (I think that’s right?) that show how they travel faster than the speed of light, which makes them appear to go backwards in time–the Great Circle of the Soul comes to mind here! We are so incredibly plain silly to think we can perceive all reality in the universe with our 3 dimensional selves! The more Einstein learned and experimented, the more he came to believe in a divine creator and an eternal soul.

Thank you for this post!
I actually think that we are already in eternity. This phase just looks different that the next one will. This phase is set in the dimensions of time and space…not sure how the next one will be different, but I see the experience as seamless to our spirits. It is the external surroundings that will change. Does that make sense? ~Sheila

Courageous words. I especially like your statement that “disbelief does not alter the truth…” I am finding your journey in grief very inspiring and so full of hope.
