In a buffet style restaurant, the custom is to seat yourself and to serve yourself. Most are familiar with this, but few relate to the “carry over” into our lives. This human nature we talk about is prone to self service.
Ever find yourself helping someone as a thought in your mind pats you on the back for being such a good person? Ever thought though maybe never expressed it, “whats in it for me”? Truth be known, we have all sensed the “self serving” nature within us.
Most keep it at bay, but some let the self serving desire reign in their lives. They may seem selfless on the outside, but everything they do serves their own end. Self is truly their god. The desire to serve self is within all of us as is the desire to serve a loving God. Be careful where your focus lies.
